A WONDERFUL DAY FOR 'AN OPEN DOOR' AND IT'S SUPPORTERS!

In the beginning of Octbober, Six of An Open Door's young people in Uganda graduated from their Vocational Training

We have to Congratulate them in all their efforts to get this far and making everyone so proud of them

A Celebration party was held on the 4th October in our Bulange Family Home, Kampala, Uganda

An Open Door started with the vision that children could be taken off the streets to become men and women of God, to become useful members of society and be able to give back what God had enabled them to recieve.   Here we have some of the fruit of that first vision.

All of these young people are a credit to the faithfulness of the amazing Ugandan staff and UK voluntary workers who have tirelessly given of themselves to see this day happen
Shamilla Chelangait

Shamilla was originally taken into the home at Malaba and after much hard work has graduated in tailoring
Betty Asiimwe

Betty was also originally taken into our home at Malaba and has been living in Kampala whilst studying hairdressing and beauty treatments
Richard Busole

Richard is also originally from Rwanda, and was brought up in our Malaba Children's Family Home but is now resettled in Kampala.  He graduated in Electronics
You can read more about Richard on the bottom of the previous page
Deo Mutyaba

Deo is a member of our home in Bulange.  He is a very polite and gentle boy and he has also graduated from his course in Electronics
Emmanuel Musinguzi

Our third Electronics graduate is Emmanuel he is also a  member of our Family Home in Bulange
Faith - Hamida Nakato

Our final graduate is Faith who graduated from her course in nursery teaching
Every one of these young people have had great social and language barriers to cross before even thinking about embarking on a career.   We have to give great commendation to the staff of 'An Open Door', the Mamma's and Social Workers, and those responsible for every aspect of the children's lives.

We also have to give great thanks to all the supporters of 'An Open Door' who have tirelessly raised funds and given as sponsors and one-off givers to make all this wonderful work happen.   Not to mention the endless regular hours all the UK volunteer staff put in!!!   May God Bless you all!

HERE IS PROOF THAT GOD CAN AND DOES WORK MIRACLES WITH CHILDREN WHO WERE ON THE STREETS!

As I was the founder and  the International Director of 'An Open Door' for seventeen years, I want to continue to support this wonderful work.   Therefore, I have compiled some information, memories and photographs that may aid anyone browsing to understand the reasons for the Charity's focus.    Please understand this Charity is born out of a genuine concern for the child on the streets and from the generous giving of its supporters, who, in the beginning were mainly the school staff and children of South Wales.   I hope you have enjoyed reading.
'An Open Door's' Trustees have given permission for these pages to be published, but the responsibility for the information remains with me - Diane Pardoe
